Polls have at last been held after being talked a lot during recent weeks. The important and vital phase of the democratic process has been completed quite successfully, indeed. Equally important like holding of the polls is the maintenance of peace, harmony, reconciliation and law and order throughout the country after the polls.
The winning and losing political and religious parties and winners and losers among their candidates would have been known by now. Victory processions would have already been taken by the winners or being planned after official announcement being made by the Election Commission.
In doing so, it should be ensured that the losers' feelings and sentiments are duly respected and not hurt in any manner nor any law and order situation is created out of sheer jubilation. It is also pertinent to mention here that the civilian President Pervez Musharraf has duly honoured his yet another commitment of holding the polls.
After the polls, transition from the military rule to complete democratic set up has also been completed for which President Pervez Musharraf should be duly felicitated. It is hoped that the new Prime Minister will develop and maintain healthy, democratic working relationship with the President in the largest interests of democracy and democratic institutions which need to be strengthened now.
