Federal Minister for Environment, Local Government and Rural Development, Syed Wajid Hussain Bukhari, on Saturday approved funds of Rs 103 million for replacement of marble, flooring of grave hall, and podium at Quaid-e-Azam's mausoleum.
He gave the approval while presiding over a meeting of Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board held here on Saturday and attended by board members.
The meeting reviewed implementation status of the decisions made during last meeting and expressed their satisfaction over the pace of work. It approved Rs 103 million for replacement of marble, flooring of grave hall, and podium.
The minister instructed the authorities concerned not to compromise on quality and standard of the material. The board recommended incorporating penalty clause in deed of contract in case of use of sub-standard material.
It decided in principle to hire services of an experienced consultant for preparation of feasibility report of installation of sewerage treatment plant, as the rainy season is at hand. In addition, it approved the project of polishing and finishing the main mausoleum building from inside and outside and to immediately start process of quotations and tenders.
It may be noted that the polishing of main building of mausoleum is going to be done after 30 years. Moreover, it approved the project to construct two more toilet blocks each for male and female. To catch the attention of foreign tourists and local visitors it was decided to utilise the peripheral areas of Mazar-e-Quaid.
In this regard, board decided to convene seminars and invite national and international architects, intellectuals and historians, so that, in the light of their valued recommendations, this national service may be started.
