Brain generation improves learning, says scholar

The Directorate of Research of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore arranged a lecture on "Neurodegeneration and regeneration of the brain: from animal to human neuroscience" in the university auditorium on Saturday.
Professor Dr Khalid Iqbal from the Department of Neurochemistry, New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities, USA, spoke about various aspects of the subject followed by a question and answer session.
"Protein misfolding is the cause of Neurodegeneration in both animals and humans and study of various molecular mechanism of Neurodegeneration can lead to rational therapeutic treatment of both animal and human", Iqbal said. Further the scholar said that regeneration of affected areas of brain could improve learning and memory in both animals and humans.
The Dean, Fisheries and Wildlife, Professor Dr Naureen Qureshi also addressed the participants while Faculty members and large number of students attended the lecture. The session concluded with the presentation of shield to the guest speaker by the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry.
