The spokesman for President of Pakistan has rejected the report of a British newspaper, Sunday Telegraph, that Pervez Musharraf was resigning, saying the story is baseless. Major General Rashid Qureshi (retd) said the paper did not quote any person which makes the report doubtful.
"Frankly if President wants to talk about such matters, he will have to talk to the people of Pakistan. "I discard the authenticity of Sunday Telegraph's story as the newspaper does not identify its source. It seems that someone is planting such rumours," he told ARY Oneworld.
Earlier, he regretted that such reports only create confusion, specially at a time when peaceful transition of power to the elected representatives was about to take place. On the demand of some political leaders that the President should resign, the spokesman has already clarified that Pervez Musharraf was elected by the parliament for a five year term therefore their demand was unjust.
