The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP), Afrasiab Khan Khattak, said here on Sunday that no name has been finalised yet for the slot of Chief Minister of NWFP. Talking to APP, Afrasiab Khattak said that party's central council would soon meet to finalise the name in this regard.
When Khattak's attention was diverted to the names of ANP senior leaders Bashir Ahmed Bilour and Arbab Ayub Jan being discussed in political circles as likely candidates for CM's slot, he remarked that all the 32 elected members of the ANP are qualified and competent for the slot of the chief minister and the party will finalise the name very soon.
The issue of formation of government in NWFP has been decided during a meeting of ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari in Islamabad the other day and it was agreed that CM slot will go to ANP due to its numerical strength in the House.
The ANP stalwart said the change in policy will be brought for maintenance of durable peace, better education and health facilities, employment opportunities and improving the socio-economic condition of poor and down-trodden masses.
Talking to APP the other day, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, ANP Provincial General Secretary said that ANP desires to take all the democratic forces and moderate political parties in forming the coalition government.
