The construction work of Population House in Pak Secretariat would be completed soon, spokesperson of the Ministry of Population Welfare said on Sunday. Three blocks of Population House had been completed while work on auditorium and media centre was in full swing, the spokesperson added.
The pace of work had been expedited after receiving instruction from the Caretaker Minister for Housing and Works Nisar Muhammad Khan, who directed officials of Pak-PWD to accelerate progress of construction work for early completion of building.
The ministers of both the ministries in a meeting with officials of Ministry of Housing and Works and Ministry of Population Welfare had also directed ensuring provision of water, electricity, gas and telephone facilities so that the offices of Ministry of Population Welfare could be shifted to the newly constructed Population House next month.
Both the ministers urged the officials to ensure quality of work and use locally made materials particularly tiles in the project so that foreign exchange could be saved. They said that locally made products should be used in national projects instead of imported.
