The commodity wholesale markets were yawning on Tuesday following election day on Monday to sit and wait for the buyers who, too, were taking time to think about other activity than election. However, a solo fluctuation in cotton cakes was reported which was down Rs 20 to Rs 580.
The trading on Wednesday was likely to do normally. The grain market is coming off the lax owing to electioneering. However, Irri white showed sharp rise of Rs 500 to Rs 2250, while the other type was quoted at Rs 2260. Masoor Canada at Rs 6800 and 7000, masoor dal up by Rs 1200 to Rs 8000, urad from Burma low type was up by Rs 275 to Rs 1725, better type up by Rs 150 to Rs 1800. Wheat old and new type rose by Rs 40 to Rs 1665 and Rs 1680.
Elsewhere milk powder Euro Gold shed Rs 200 to Rs 7200, Bale vale shed Rs 100 to Rs 7200, sweetened per carton King rose by Rs 225 to Rs 1950, Polac rose by Rs 125 to Rs 1950 and lucky boy rose by Rs 150 to Rs 1950.
On Thursday wheat old and new both varieties maintained their overnight gains, picking up Rs 35 to Rs 1700-1715, respectively. On the gram side, gram garda Punjab soared by Rs 175 to Rs 3000-3150, gram garda dal followed suit and picked up Rs 50 to Rs 3700-3850. Yellow peas Canada was higher by Rs 250 to Rs 3150-3300, yellow peas dal Canada gained Rs 350 to Rs 3400-3550, beetle Chana No 1 rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3200-3350 and beetle 50x50 was up by Rs 175 to Rs 3100-3250 in process of trading.
ON THURSDAY, THE KIRANA ITEMS (PER 40 KG): White pepper moved down by Rs 800 at Rs 15,200, black pepper Singapore edged higher by Rs 300 at Rs 9,900, black pepper Ceylon went up by Rs 500 at Rs 9,900, mace moved downward by Rs 400 at Rs 26,400, cloves went lower by Rs 200 at Rs 15,200, dry ginger (China) finished up by Rs 250 at Rs 4,150, Isbaghol Bhoosi moved higher by Rs 600 at Rs 13,600, Sago closed down by Rs 100 at Rs 1,725 and Darchini moved upward by Rs 150 at Rs 3,350. On Friday grain and seeds market remain listless as usual. The trading on raw rubber closed higher in Jodia Bazaar.
THE FOLLOWING VARIATIONS WERE NOTED:
RAW RUBBER CEYLON (Per lb): RSSV went up by Rs 2 at Rs 88 and Pale Crepe TPC3 edged upward by Rs 5 at Rs 90.
LATEX: Semnan Tex closed higher by Rs 35 at Rs 600 and Thai (G.T) moved up by Rs 35 at Rs 600.
On Saturday, the cereals side, wheat old and new lost Rs 50 to Rs 1650-1665, sugar low type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2100 while better type stayed put at Rs 2350, gur was sharply lower at Rs 1600-2100, other commodities maintained the same levels, they said.
On the rice side, Irri-6 Sindh shed Rs 20 to Rs 2250-2270 while the other types maintained the overnight levels.
PLASTIC MOULDINGS COMPOUNDS (Per lb): HDPE (Film) Saudia 952 moved up by Rs 2 at Rs 59.50, Mobil edged higher by Rs 2 at Rs 59.50 and TR144 finished upward by Rs 2 at Rs 59.50.
HDPE (Injection): Sabic 200056 moved upward by Rs 1.50 at Rs 56, Mobil 016 closed higher by Rs 1.50 at Rs 56 and Iran went up by Rs 4 at Rs 58.
HDPE (Blow): Kuwait edged higher by Rs 1.75 at Rs 59, Marlex moved upward by Rs 1.75 at Rs 59 and Iran closed up by Rs 1.50 at Rs 59.
LDPE: 374 closed higher by Rs 3.50 at Rs 70, MG 20 finished up by Rs 3 at Rs 74 and MG 70 went upward by Re 1 at Rs 73.
LLDPE: W118 finished higher by Rs 1.50 at Rs 59.25 and 7087 went up by Rs 2 at Rs 58.75.
POLYPROPYLENE (Film): Thai edged up by Rs 1.75 at Rs 60.50, Kuwait finished higher by Rs 1.75 at Rs 60.50 and India moved upward by Rs 1.75 at Rs 60.50.
POLYPROPYLENE (Tape Grade): India closed up by 25 paisa at Rs 59.25, Kuwait edged higher by 25 paisa at Rs 59.25 and Saudia moved upward by 25 paisa at Rs 59.25.
POLYPROPYLENE (Injection grade): Saudia edged higher by 50 paisa at Rs 59.50 and India finished up by 25 paisa at Rs 59.25.
POLYSTYRENE: BASF was quoted at Rs 3,300 and Pakistani was quoted at Rs 3,269.
HIGH IMPACT (Per bag): Pakistani was quoted at Rs 3,388 and BASF was quoted at Rs 3,400.
ABS (Per bag): Polylac 707 finished up by Rs 90 at Rs 3,850 and Iran moved higher by Rs 50 at Rs 3,800.
