LHC to take up three identical petitions of Sharifs

The Lahore High Court will take up three identical petitions of Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif and the formers wife, Kalsoom Nawaz, against the notices of tax department for tax evasion. The Income Tax Department had accused Nawaz Sharif of evading tax on purchase a helicopter, which he used for his election campaign.
His wife Kalsoom was asked to pay Rs 2.9 million as additional wealth tax and Rs 1.9 million as additional income tax for her income during the years 1994-95, 95-96, 96-97 and 97-98. While Shahbaz was directed to pay Rs 2.3 million as additional wealth tax and Rs 1.6 million as additional income tax for the years 1994-95, 95-96,96-97 and 97-98.
