The profit after-tax of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) has declined to Rs 340.6 million in the six months period ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 485.3 million earned in the corresponding period in 2006. The SSGC board, in its meeting held on Thursday, declared that the company''s earning per share stood at Rs 0.51 in the period under review against Rs 0.72 in the same period a year back.
According to results, total gas sales of the company declined to Rs 40,316.9 million in this period against Rs 44,371.2 million in the same period in 2006. On the other hand, the cost of gas stood at Rs 31,000.5 million against Rs 31,534.0 million, the gas development surcharge at Rs 1,803.0 million against Rs 4,847.6 million while sales tax stood at Rs 4,558.0 million against Rs 4,867.5 million.
The transmission and distribution cost stood at Rs 2,789.6 million against Rs 2,628.5 million, the administration expenses at Rs 620.9 million against Rs 514.2 million while other operating expenses at Rs 118.5 million against Rs 138.9 million.
The other operating income increased to Rs 2,803.2 million in the half year in 2007 against Rs 1,686.8 million in the same period in 2006. The company''s profit before-tax increased to Rs 983.7 million in this period against Rs 729.3 million in the same period previous year.
