The Agribusiness Support Fund has invited representatives of the Dairy Farmers Association of Karachi to visit fund's head office to finalise a proposed extension service project.
"The association representatives might visit Lahore by mid-March to head office and the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to see set-up and facilities at the university," Fund Chief Executive Khalid Khan told Business Recorder on Saturday.
Khalid said discussions were underway with the representatives of the Dairy Farmers Association made up of over 1,000 members having 300,000 buffaloes. Under the proposed extension services project, the association intends to establish in its premises facilities like a diagnostic laboratory, feed analysis unit, bio-gas plant, water purification plant, artificial insemination unit and animal health care unit.
These facilities will be used to provide services on subsidised rates to members and on commercial rates to the other agribusiness concerns in and around the city, ensuring sustainability for the project. Khalid said the project was a big project and the visit would help the representatives to see the university's facilities and finalise the proposal. "It is our effort to finalise the project in the current month and then put it before the Board of Directors to approve and implement it," he added.
