PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has said the people have totally rejected dictatorial forces in the February 18 general election and buried the PML(Q). "Our nomination papers were accepted in 2002, but rejected in 2007 general elections, due to well-netted conspiracy of Pervez Musharraf, who destroyed the country economically, socially, diplomatically and politically."
Addressing a seminar here on Sunday organised by the Hameed Nizami Memorial Society, he said the people of Pakistan rejected PML(Q) in the recent general elections for their wrong policies and ill deeds. "We appreciate the mandate bestowed on the shoulders of PML(N) by the people. Let me assure you here that we will utilise all possible resources and our capabilities to fulfil the expectations of all segments of the society."
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and other democratic parities will solve the problems of the country and the masses with the consensus and conspirator will not succeed in their ill-designs.
He said after the formation of the government, restoration of the judiciary would be first and foremost priority of the PML(N) and no pressure would be tolerated in this regard. He said November 3 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan when Pervez Musharraf arrested the honourable judges and deprived them of their basic human rights. A special committee consisted of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has been formed for the restoration of judiciary, he said. The committee will review various aspects, including, whether the one-third majority is necessary for the restoration or not.
He said that Rs 17 billion was misused in the name of Ring Road, which was still non-existent. Moreover, billions of rupees were distributed to favourites in the name "Ring Road affectees".
Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan speaking on the occasion said the PML(N) and the PPP could change the fate of the county as well as the nation after getting heavy mandate and if they failed to do so the nation would never forgive them. This is the golden opportunity for them to provide relief and justice to the bewildered masses.
Imran said that despite rigging in the polls, the people badly rejected Pervez Musharraf and his supporting forces. He also said the concept of justice could not be imagined without the independent judiciary, supremacy of law, and the Constitution. The supremacy of the Constitution can not be ensured without the restoration of the judges and removal of the dictatorship, he added.
