Necessary arrangements are being finalised for undertaking development work on Sialkot hockey stadium costing Rs 60 million, said District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sialkot Ata Muhammad Khan. Talking to Business Recorder here on Monday he added that under the plan pavilion, dressing rooms and stands for spectators would be constructed.
Ata Muhammad further stated that district government has given the approval of the funds for initiating the development work on the project. The district administration he said was making strenuous efforts for promoting different sports especially the games of cricket, football and hockey in this export-oriented city, which is the hub of sports goods manufacturing he said.
Ata Muhammad was of the opinion that district cricket association and district hockey association could play an instrumental role in the promotion of sports in Sialkot district. The district administration would extend all possible support and cooperation to the associations for the development and promotion of sports in the district he added.
