New Managing Director of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Muhammad Abdul Aleem has said he is aware of the challenges the energy sector is faced with and it would be fair to deal with them on priority basis.
He was addressing a luncheon meeting of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association and CNG Dealers Association, hosted to say farewell to the outgoing PSO Managing Director Jalees Ahmed Siddiqui and to welcome the incoming Muhammad Abdul Aleem at a local club here on Tuesday. Aleem said that he would take on board all the stakeholders to ensure that different issues that obstructed good business practices were solved promptly.
Outgoing Managing Director Siddiqui said that during his six years stay, the PSO's image underwent change and it became a customer-friendly organisation from a sleepy and a reluctant-to-change organisation.
"It is now a vibrant and a progressing organisation, which cares for its customers, dealers and employees more than ever," he said. He said that despite increase in oil prices, there was still a substantial portion of burden oil companies were absorbing. "Full cost of oil has yet not passed on to the customer," he said.
Earlier, Chairman of PPDA and CNG DA Abdul Sami Khan said, in his brief welcome remarks, that there was need to work on energy policy so that the prices, need and supply sources could be managed on professional basis.
He said that the prices of PoL were going up and the consumer was under its pressure. "He has to be taken out of this burden," he added. He said that the new government was about to be in place and it should be on its priority agenda to work on energy policy. Khan demanded that the sanctioned CNG stations should be permitted to complete their work and the recent orders to stop all ongoing construction work should be rescinded forthwith.
