The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has demanded the upcoming assembly for taking forthwith action to impeach President Pervez Musharraf in its maiden session. In its general house meeting on Tuesday speakers also demanded it to repeal 58 (2)(B) as soon as possible.
The house unanimously carried resolution moved by its secretary Rana Asadullah demanding action against responsible of torturing protesting lawyers in Islamabad on Monday. The LHCBA also demanded that action should be taken on application filed with Islamabad police by lawyers against government high ups.
The LHCBA members carried a resolution in which they urged the winning parties to take immediate action for the restoration of deposed former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry other deposed judges and lawyers after coming into power.
Secretary Rana Asadullah also dispelled all impressions that lawyers were divided over judges' restoration matter, adding dismissed the impression that lawyers' movement was being supported by some politicians. He said it was right that lawyers were suffering since last years for not appearing before courts but their families and friends had been supporting them.
He said lawyers were not willingly on the roads but to create pressure against the government to record their protest. He said it was moral duty of every lawyer to ensure boycott of courts according to the call of the Pakistan Bar council.
He also demanded the lawyers not to file urgent cases on Wednesday (today) so that on Thursday (tomorrow) no lawyer could appear before the court as Thursday is lawyers complete strike day. Advocate Ahsan Wyen, Munsif Awan, Liaquat Quershi and Rashid Lodhi also addressed the meeting.
