The villagers of Bara Shaikhan on Wednesday morning blocked the main Bara road to protest against the alleged brutal killings by the tribesmen believed to be associated with Lashkar-e-Islami headed by Mangal Bagh.
At least 11 people were killed and six others injured when dozens of armed men belonging to Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency based Lashkar-e-Islam attacked Shaikhan village with rocket launchers and other highly dangerous weapons on Monday.
"We have parked our buses at the Ring Road as the Bara road has been blocked by the protestors since morning," Muhammad Gul, a driver of Bara Bus said. Situation in the area are tense, as the law enforcers have taken positions to maintain their writ.
The road was also blocked on Tuesday but it was reopened for traffic by Wednesday evening, he maintained. He informed that a total of 200 buses daily plying between Peshawar and Bara, hundreds of angry mourners belonging to Khalil and Momand tribes have blocked the Bara road, main entry route to Khyber Agency.
Heavy contingent of police forces have been deployed both sides of the divide to avoid the possibility of any mishap.
According to eyewitnesses, a firing incident also took place between the armed tribesmen and the police early Wednesday morning, which continued for a short while. Meanwhile, the angry mob also destroyed main bridge lining Peshawar with Bara, tehsil Khyber Agency.
The protestors were demanding of the government to take action against Lashkar-e-Islam an outfit working in the Khyber Agency. The blockade of the road caused scarcity of the food in the agency.
