Pakistan Muslim League-N Central Finance Secretary Muhammad Pervaiz Malik has said the agreement signed between the democratic forces trying to reinstate deposed judges is a whiff of fresh air.
He addressed at a function held on Monday, "The restoration of real democracy and supremacy of constitution are linked with the reinstatement of judges. Unity among the parties, which believe in democracy and democratic traditions, would lead to ensuring peace and stability in the country. As majority of parties have expressed their readiness to form governments, there should be no further delay in this regard."
He condemned the use of force against lawyers and representatives of civil society outside judge's colony in Islamabad, saying such tactics would never succeed in stopping the march for a real democracy and judiciary. "The political parties to whom people gave the mandate in the February 18 elections have the full right to form a government and any bid to create hurdles in this regard will be thwarted," he added.
He said credit for the consensus between democratic forces on important national issues went to party chief Nawaz Sharif, adding the party had laid the foundation of national unity and politics of tolerance and accommodation. "People want change in system and for this purpose they gave mandate to democratic forces which would not disappoint them," he added.
