Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Vice Chairman, Mirza Aziz Akbar Baig has alleged that plotting against Murree declaration is going on and "we have to foil the nefarious designs of those who wanted to topple the democratic system."
Expressing concern over the delay in calling the session of the newly-elected assembly, Baig said on Monday that the Black-Flag Week being observed throughout the country was aimed at making stronger the incoming government. The incoming government is facing several challenges and is under enormous pressure, he said while talking to newsmen followed by hoisting a black flag at district Courts.
The PBC Vice Chairman welcomed a joint declaration of the PPP and the PML-N that they would restore the judiciary within a month of forming a government. Baig said, "I welcome the declaration. However, if they fail to restore the judiciary within 30 days of the formation of government, lawyers will continue their movement."
"We believe that the sacked judges would have to be restored through an executive order. However, we also welcome the declaration." He voiced concern over the delay in calling the National Assembly session saying that hurdles were being created in the way of the incoming government.
The same tactics were used by General Yahya, he said, adding that the supremacy of the Constitution and law could not be established till the independence of the judiciary. President Pervez Musharraf and independent judiciary cannot exist together, Baig declared. He asked President Musharraf to leave the office of the head of the state respectfully.
