In order to promote the art of Ikebana, Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will arrange a series of "Ikebana Workshops". The series would start here on Tuesday and would end on March 13. The workshops are being organised during the spring season.
Embassy of Japan with the association of Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) and Mext Alumni Association of Pakistan would organise these workshops. Ikebana exhibition and demonstration would be held at National Art Gallery on March 13.
Ikebana, the Japanese style of flower arrangement, which literally means "flowers kept alive" was developed into a distinct art form in Japan in the 5th century and now practised all over the world.
The fragrance of flowers and artistic skill with a creative approach gives spiritual as well as aesthetic pleasure to the viewer in this form of art. Embassy of Japan held these workshops regularly during the spring season in Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad for the last many years while this year Ratna Guha, an Ikebena expert from Sogestu School, Tokyo has been invited to conduct these workshops at National Art Gallery.
