A formal meeting of parliamentary parties of the four major coalition partners-Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Awami National Party (ANP) and JUI-F will be held at Parliament House on March 17 to chalk out strategy for the new parliament.
An informal meeting of senior leadership of PPP and PML-N on Thursday decided to hold another formal meeting of the parliamentary parties of coalition partners on March 17 at 9 am prior to the first session of the National Assembly scheduled at 11am on the same day.
The coalition partners would welcome their new members and chalk out a joint strategy to be followed in the Lower House. Talking to media after the meeting, central leader of PML-N Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that at the first meeting of parliamentary parties a joint strategy of the coalition partners would be devised.
To a question, he said that the cabinet portfolios have not been disclosed among the coalition partners so far. However, the PML-N, he said is in favour of a small cabinet to avoid unnecessary burden on the national exchequer and his party would try to motivate other partners on this point.
He added that PML-N has no lust for ministries as it wants to have a strong national economy instead of huge cabinets. The meeting was attended by Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Ishaq Dar from PML-N whereas PPP was represented by Syed Khursheed Shah, Naveed Qamer, Sherry Rehman, Raja Pervaiz Asharraf and Raza Rabbani.
