Lawyers across the Southern Punjab on Thursday - the fourth day of the 'Black Flag Week' - held rallies, meetings and set up hunger strike camps demanding of the government to restore the deposed judges.
In Multan Traders and civil society members organised a big rally from Chowk Hussain Agahi under the leadership of Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq, Chairman of Traders Chamber, Khalid Qureshi, Jafar Shah and PML-N leaders to express solidarity with the legal fraternity.
Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Mirza Aziz Baig led the rally after addressing the DBA general house meeting at 10:30 am. The HCBA Multan also held its general house meeting. After attending the meetings, lawyers of both the bars organised rallies. Civil society members, political and human rights activists and students organisations also joined lawyer's rally.
HCBA Secretary Rana Naveed said that lawyers will continue striving for the restoration of judiciary to its pre-November 3 status and will not let the next government to betray its declaration.
Lawyers and civil society members also staged a protest demonstration at Chowk Kutchery. The protesters were holding black flags and placards inscribed with anti-president slogans.
The lawyers pledged to continue their struggle till reinstatement of the deposed judges. Law enforcement agencies were deployed in large numbers but the protesters chose not to clash with the police and dispersed peacefully.
