A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar and Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar was signed in a ceremony held at the Conference Hall of the UET on Thursday.
The Vice Chancellors of both universities, Registrars, Deans of Faculties, administrative staff and academia attended the ceremony. The Vice Chancellor (VC), UET, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and the VC, KMU, Dr Daud signed the memorandum.
According to the MoU, both the universities will work together to establish an Institute of Bio-medical Engineering, which in future will offer diploma courses and degree courses in the field of Bio-medical Engineering.
Further, two committees were formed under the MoU was assigned to carry the new institute project. The joint PC-I committee, comprising the administrative staff of both the universities, will prepare PC-I of the project while the joint curriculum committee with the academia of both the universities will work to prepare curriculum for the proposed institute.
Addressing the ceremony, the UET VC, said that the Institute of Bio-Medical Engineering was the need of the hour and termed the MoU as the first step towards a great success. Further, he hoped that the mutual co-ordination designed through the MoU would soon bring success to the goal that has been set by these two universities of Peshawar.
