The Punjab Consumer Protection Council and the Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec) have jointly organised a seminar in Dera Ghazi Khan to create awareness about the hazards of sub-standard products and services.
D G Khan District Co-ordination Officer Dr Nabeel Awan urged the representatives of civil society and the non-governmental organisations to play active role in creating awareness among consumers about their rights. He said that the district consumer protection council was taking all the necessary steps to redress the grievances of the consumers regarding substandard and faulty products.
DGM CR&DI Munir A Rana said CR&DI being a credible cement-testing laboratory in the country had always helped discourage the manufacturing, sale and use of the substandard cement.
PCPC Assistant Director Shafiq Khosa briefed the participants about the significance of the World Consumers Day and said only concerted efforts by all the segments of the society could ensure the availability of quality products and services. Legal Assistant Director Muhammad Shahbaz detailed on the laws governing the consumer protection activities in the Punjab province.-PR
