Construction work on Islamabad Citizen Club is in full swing that is being built by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Fatima Jinnah Park here.
The official said the Authority was building the club on design-build basis and had hired the service of Expertise Pvt Limited to execute the project, adding that about 40 acres of land had been allocated for the development of the club that would incur Rs 1.2 billion.
He termed the project as the most beautiful facility in the country that would be equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities. The Club would be run by the senior citizens of the federal capital independently on the pattern of Islamabad Club. The Club would have a cricket ground, 50 double-bed rooms, banquet hall, waiting hall, and other related offices.
He said a magnificent golf course would also be developed in the future but any concrete decision in this regard would be made later. The official said the project would take two and half year for the completion, adding that it was part of the second phase of the development of F-9 Park in which 200 acres out of total 750 acres of total land would be developed.
Japan International Co-operation Agency (Jica) had prepared the master plan of the 750-acre park, but well-known architect Nayyar Ali Dada later revised it. He said in the first phase, the Authority had developed 40-acre area, while the work on the second phase was already in progress.
The second phase would be completed within two years that would cost Rs 1.2 billion. In the second phase, the Authority would develop a cricket stadium, tennis courts, botanical gardens, Children Park, cycle and jogging tracks, Japanese Garden, Rock Garden, skating ring and swimming pool. The official said that entire development of the park, one of the mega projects being undertaken by the Authority, was to cost five billion rupees and was due for completion by 2011.
