Spokesperson of the Labour Party Pakistan Farooq Tariq and Director South Asia Partnership Muhammad Tehseen said that the purpose of the war on terror started by America is to grab the oil and other resources of the countries rich with natural resources.
They said that the people of Pakistan would not accept the continuation of the policies of Musharraf by the newly elected government. They said this while addressing a seminar organised by the Pakistan Social Forum on the completion of five years of America's occupation in Iraq here on Saturday.
They said that during the five year illegal occupation America has divided Iraq on sectarian grounds and 1.2 million people had died as a result of the civil war and around 2.5 million people were living as refugees in other countries.
Baghdad, which was the hub of cultural activities, was completely destroyed and the infrastructure of the city was also destroyed and the people don't have drinking water. After the seminar a rally was planned from the Lahore Press Club to the Chairing Cross Mall Road but the administration don't allowed the rally to enter on the Mall and the rally was dispersed peacefully at the Egerton Road.
