Opposition groups have united to table a no-confidence motion against the AJK Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Atiq Khan, an opposition spokesman said on Friday. A group in the government has also assured cooperation to the opposition for in-house change.
The no-confidence motion will be introduced in a requisitioned session after the Government of Pakistan gives green signal. Khwaja Aatif Bashir, media advisor of the Peoples Muslim League (PML) told reporters that the AJK's three opposition parties PPP, PML and MQM have united to bring the no-trust motion. He said a group of 16 ruling Muslim Conference MLAs have also assured cooperation to the motion if all the opposition groups are united.
The number of opposition members in the house is 13. If the splinter group of like-minded members from the ruling party joins the opposition, the strength will reach 29.
Twenty-five members are required for the no-confidence motion. If Sardar Khalid Ibrahim supports the motion, the number could jump to thirty. Bashir said that the coalition government will be formed after in-house change but the Prime Minister would be from the rebel group of the Muslim Conference.
The four-party "Kashmir Democratic Alliance" will form a coalition government. Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry will get an important position in the new set up, he said. Major political change is to happen in Azad Kashmir after the formal launching of PML-N in Azad Kashmir.
