The hardware and the software components of the Telemetry System are capable of providing data equivalent to the existing manual system. The system does "work", and is also capable of satisfying its purpose of independently monitoring the flows through the Indus Basin Irrigation System.
This is the conclusion, drawn by the World Bank Consultant on Telemetry Project for Indus Basin Irrigation System, Ian Maclaurin, in his appraisal report. However, at some sites and locations, the Telemetry System requires minor adjustments and corrections.
The World Bank Consultant, during a presentation to the Ministry of Water and Power, also declared that the Telemetry System was delivered as requested by the Irsa in PC-1 and is able to respond to the issues that initiated it. The equipment, the technology, and the system are adequate to the task. He has declared the Telemetry System as "fully operational".
He has suggested formation of two working groups to build confidence of all the stakeholders on the Telemetry System by addressing the concerns and day-to-day technical issues. These working groups are fully functional. The Telemetry Project for Indus Basin Irrigation System, being operated and maintained by Wapda, is fully functional round-the-clock, and its data can be viewed on the website.
