The National Accountability Court on Monday acquitted former provincial minister and leader of the house in Sindh assembly, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq in two separate NAB references regarding plots.
National Accountability Court Judge Aalay Maqbool Rizvi held that contention of defence counsel Shahadate Awan that there was no criminal intention on the part of the accused and he was entitled to acquittal carried sufficient weight, private TV news reported.
Although the NRO is in operation now and various NAB cases against different political figures are being withdrawn under its provisions, the case against Pir Mazhar was not withdrawn, rather the court acquitted him under section 265-K of the code of criminal procedure for want of incriminating piece of evidence.
