The Income Tax Bar Association Karachi (ITBAK) will organise a two-day 'South Asian Tax Summit 2008' in collaboration with the Nutshell Forum on April 15 and 16, 2008, says a press release. The theme of the summit would be 'The Regional Co-operation for Economic Development: Vision 2020', the release said.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the South Asian Federation of Accountants (Safa), the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), the All Pakistan Tax Bar Association (Aptba), the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Asia-Oceana Tax Consultants Association (AOTCA) are the Strategic Partners of the event.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) are also endorsing the summit, it said.
In a joint statement, Abdul Qadir Memon President, ITBAK, Muhammad Azfar Ahsan, Global CEO, Nutshell Forum and SM Shabbar Zaidi, President, Safa said that the purpose of organising the summit is to conduct in-depth analysis of the tax system and to find the solution of the problems being faced by the common man and by the tax professionals of the region.
"Our aim of organising this summit is to make an effort to come up with a regional tax system which if implemented can be a real confidence booster for those investors who wants to invest in countries around the region," the statement added.-PR
