The intellectuals belonging to different shades of opinion in their submissions in the Hamdard Assembly said that Pakistan should talk to America and separate its ways from self-imposed war on terror by America.
They said the government should adopt strategy to give world powers a realisation that Pakistani nation is capable of deciding things independently. The government should make immediate move to abandon the operation launched in Waziristan, Swat, and other parts of country and make sure that incidents like Lal Masjid should not appear on the scene now, they suggested. They asked the government to apologise with the relatives of the victims of Lal Masjid to give them a psychological relief.
They were of the view that the present government should fix the priorities and preference should be given to bring peace in the country, besides economic revival, which would help eradicate poverty and unemployment. They said that people in tribal areas were targeted for the cause of America, which has weakened this powerful defence line of the country.
They said that proxy war under the garb of so-called war on terror was started in Afghanistan by foreign forces, which was extended to Pak territory and has turned the country into a battlefield. This was caused threats to integrity of the country.
On the occasion, the speaker of the Forum and Iftikhar Ahmed Sarohey, former Naval chief said that main cause of lawlessness in the country was social and economic disorder.
