The Punjab University and the University of Central Lancashire have decided to collaborate in the fields of computer sciences, information technology and physical sciences.
The decision came at a meeting between PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran and Professor Dr Waqar Ahmed, Professor of Nanotechnology and Advanced Manufacturing School of Computing Technology and Physical Sciences University of Central Lancashire, UK.
Dr Mujahid said students of the Punjab University were more talented students as compared to any other university of the country. He said that PU is working in collaboration with many foreign universities and it has also signed Memorandum of Understanding with Glasgow University and Birmingham University.
He said that there is a vast scope of collaboration between Punjab University and University of Central Lancashire and both the universities must sign MoU to facilitate their faculties as well as their students. Professor Waqar Ahmad briefed about his university and put forth proposals for cooperation between both the universities.
Dr Rukhsana Kausar and Professor Dr Jamil Anwar also gave their inputs on the issue and finally the agreement reached on split programmes, waving off tuition fees of PU students at Lancashire varsity and research collaboration. PU will send documents to Professor Waqar Ahmad and a formal MoU will be signed soon.
Gujrat University's External Linkages and Cooperation Director Muhammad Asad Tahir, PU Acting Director External Linkages Dr Rukhsana Kausar, Professor Dr Jamil Anwar Chaudhry, Professor Dr Shaukat Ali, Dr Mansoor Sarwar, Dr Muhammad Ali, Professor Naseem Shahzad, Professor Nazima Ikram and Professor Saadat Siddiqui were also present in the meeting. Later students of 4th semester of Physics Department joined the meeting and they had an interactive session with the guests.
