Keeping eyes on it, department therefore, has evolved a comprehensive strategy for protecting labour rights besides adopting other positive measures aimed to provide healthy working environment to workers at their workplaces, they added.
To a question, they replied that department was striving to strictly enforce the labour laws regarding wages distribution and added that laws would only be effective, if department of labour and Minimum Wage Board (MWB) would initiate joint efforts in the imposition of labour laws.
They said that seminars and workshops were being conducted in different industrial areas across Sindh to spread awareness about labour rights and responsibilities among labours, hoping that it would help in raising awareness among them about their rights and responsibilities.
When asked, they said, "labours can only be supportive for the department in the enforcement of labour laws, if they are aware of their rights and working responsibilities". They said that department would also establish an inspection team consists of MWB and department officials to pay surprise visits at industrial units and other workplaces.
