Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani on Friday stressed developing political harmony in the country. "The politicians need to show political maturity for betterment of people".
Prime Minister said while talking to Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan and Caretaker Chief Minister former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota at Governor House soon after his arrival here from Islamabad on his maiden visit after taking over the office of Prime Minister.
Prime Minister said people of Pakistan have high hopes from political leadership and we need to come up to their expectations and aspirations. He was pleased to note that the process of reconciliation has been well received by political forces as well as the business community of Pakistan.
"This process will ensure political and economic stability leading towards development and prosperity", he observed. Both Governor and Chief Minister congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming the office of Prime Minister and winning unanimous confidence in the National Assembly.
They said that process of political reconciliation would help bring a change in the quality of life of the people. They also apprised the Prime Minister about the prevailing socio-economic environment in Sindh province.
VISITS MAZAR OF QUAID-E-AZAM: Meanwhile, the Prime Minister visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.
He laid a floral wreath at the mazar and offered fateha. He also recorded his impressions in the visitors' book. Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan, Caretaker Chief Minister former Justice Abdul Qadir Halepota were also present on the occasion.
Talking to newsmen, the Prime Minister said the government can steer the country out of crisis by following the manifesto of the Quaid. "I pledged here at the mazar that we will serve this country. We are the servant of this country and we will be successful in taking this country out of crisis." He said he needed the support of the nation, political and democratic forces and the media in this regard. They all are already supporting us, he noted.
The Prime Minister also asked the media to point out the mistakes and guide the government on various issues. The government will consider and take action according to their suggestions as much as possible, he noted.
Gilani said he has come here to pay tributes to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who created the biggest Muslim state in the world. "We are proud of our Quaid. The nation is proud of their Quaid.
He had recommended for the rule of law and constitution- abiding citizen. He disciplined the nation. His motto was faith, unity and discipline", the Prime Minister added. Quaid- e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah provided us a country while Quaid-e-Awam (Z.A. Bhutto) gave us a path and a consensus Constitution, he said.
"I will also go to the mazar of Quaid-e-Awam and Mohtarama Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to pay homage and offer fateha, because they had served the people of Pakistan by adhering to Quaid-e-Azam's philosophy and rendered their lives in this process", he opined. To a question about the extension in the federal cabinet, he said this decision will be taken in consultation with the coalition partners.
