The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has dismissed a senior sales tax auditor from services on the charges of "unauthorised absence from duty". According to an FBR order issued on Saturday, the disciplinary proceedings were initiated against Senior Auditor of Collectorate of Sales Tax and Federal Excise, Lahore, Zaheer Babar.
A show-cause notice was issued to him under Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000. However, no response was received from the accused officer.
Therefore, the charge of "misconduct" on account of wilful absence from duty for around two months stood proved. Accordingly, the board has imposed a major penalty of "dismissal from service". However, he will have a right of appeal to the appellate authority within 15 days from the date of issuance of this notification.
