NWFP Governor, Owais Ahmed Ghani, has said that the government is committed to upgrade the standard of higher education and in this regard no effort would be spared to ensure quality education at the university level to achieve the desired goals.
"Ensuring quality education is a continuous process and we must make it possible," he said while presiding over the vice-chancellors' conference of public sector universities in the province at Governor's House on Saturday. He said that each and every university should draw well thought future development plans and, in this connection, efforts should be made to materialise.
Mentioning the construction of sub-campuses of the universities, he said that development and timely initiatives should be taken to meet the requirements especially with regard to availability of land.
"Government is providing substantial amount for uplifting education sector to impart standard level of education to the new generation and we should also ensure efficient utilisation of the public money," he said.
He said that sustained efforts were needed to ensure the pace of progress on the ongoing projects. Owais Ghani said that University level education demands special facilities and environment at the campuses and we should make it convenient for the students to avail the opportunities to achieve their targets.
While, appreciating the timely initiatives taken by certain universities for ensuring availability of qualified faculty, the Governor said, it has always been a major challenge in the past and fortunately timely initiatives are underway not only to remove the deficiencies but also to meet the future demands.
Besides the vice chancellors of all the public sector universities of the province, the Secretary to Governor, Arbab Muhammad Arif, Provincial Secretaries for Health, Agriculture, and Higher Education, Dr Tashfeen, Abdul Samad Khan and Mr Amjad Shahid Afridi respectively were also present on this occasion.
