The followers of late Khudai Khidmatgar Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan alias Baacha Khan would make strenuous endeavours for combating terrorism through policy of non-violence, said NWFP Education Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain.
The followers of Baacha Khan's school of thought while pursuing the philosophy of non-violence, love and affection would follow the path of negotiations for eliminating the curse of terrorism and extremism from the country. He expressed these views while addressing an annual function of the local college here on Saturday.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who is General Secretary of ANP NWFP and a staunch believer of the philosophy of non-violence of Baacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan, said he would pursue the guidelines of his great leaders in the discharge of his ministerial obligations.
He clarified that terrorism was not the product of Pukhtoon's soil but it has been spread by the foreign elements for the protection of their own interests on the land of Pukhtoons and we will thrash out the matter in amicable manner.
He on this occasion urged upon the students to continue with their academics without any fear and added that the new NWFP government would take practical steps and introduced reforms in education sector to improve the standard of education, which was at the declining stage.
The new government would bring reforms in every sector of life to provide relief to the common man, he added. Stressing on importance of education in mother tongue, he also impressed upon the private sector involved in education to work for the promotion of education.
