The newly elected Provincial Assembly has asked the Sindh government to demand of the federal government to declare hanging of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as judicial murder.
The Assembly session, which began on Saturday to administer oath to the newly elected members, adopted three unanimous resolutions calling for unconditional apology from the federal government and declaring hanging of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as judicial murder, asking the federal government to arrange inquiry into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto by a team from the United nations, and renaming of NawabShah as Benazir Bhutto District.
Qaim Ali Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Mazharul Huq moved two resolutions. These resolutions, on two issues, were clubbed together and were put to vote in the house. The house approved relaxation of rules, in the first place, and then gave unanimous approval to the resolutions.
There was a third resolution pertaining to renaming of Nawabshah district as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto district. The mover of the resolution said that in recognition of her contribution towards democracy and fight for the rights of the depressed people it was appropriate to rename district Nawabshah. This resolution was also adopted unanimously. However, Nadir Ali Magsi proposed to rename Kamber and Shahdadkot instead of Nawabshah. His proposal was overlooked by his party.
