Firmer trend obtained on the commodity wholesales markets during the week ended on April 5 which registered sharper turn in some essential items, the consumers reporting disappointment. The opening session marked upturn in masoor dal which rose by Rs 400 to Rs 7400 while better type scaled higher by Rs 300 to Rs 7500.
Urad from Burma rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1625 and better type was marked at Rs 1725. Wheat old and new gained Rs 30 to Rs 1640 while other type was quoted at Rs 1655, cottonseed oilcakes with bag Sindh new shed Rs 20 ot Rs 760 while the better one was quoted at Rs 780.
On Jodia Bazar Pineapple Thai pine (per tin) 3 kg each quoted at Rs 190, Polac rose by Rs 55 to Rs 875, while Malapine full slice ended higher by Rs 195 to Rs 1275.
On Tuesday items mostly consumed by wage earners recorded sharp upturn such as makai inferior quality rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1850, while the other type retained overnight level. In sympathy juwar low type gained Rs 10 to Rs 1600 and better type was quoted at Rs 1700. Wheat with bardana inferior quality up by Rs 20 to Rs 1660 while the other type was noted at Rs 1675. Gram garda Punjab rose by Rs 75 to Rs 3400, while the other type was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 3600. Yellow peas Canada was up Rs 50 to Rs 3500, while the better type was quoted at Rs 3700, yellow peas dal Canada gained Rs 50 to Rs 3800 while the other type was noted at Rs 4000.
Beetle Chana No I went up Rs 50 to Rs 3600 and better type was seen at Rs 3800. Beetle 50x50 rose also by Rs 50 to Rs 3475 while the other type was quoted at Rs 3800. Dal beetle was up by Rs 25 to Rs 4200 and the other type was quoted at Rs 4400. Irri white rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1875 while better quality was up by Rs 30 to Rs 1900. Cottonseed oilcake Sindh new inferior shed Rs 10 to Rs 750 while better type was unchanged at Rs 780.
On Wednesday wheat and rice maintained upward shot as wheat old and new rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1690 while better type was seen at Rs 1705, Irri-6 Sindh inferior scaled up by Rs 75 to Rs 3150 and better kind shot up by Rs 200 to Rs 3200, cottonseed cakes with bag new batter type conceded Rs 10 to Rs 770 while the low type stayed put at Rs 750. Jodia Bazar saw the following fluctuation in plastic mouldings compounds (per Lb) HDPE blow Kuwait ended down by 50 paisa to Rs 60.50, Marlex ended lower by 50 paisa to Rs 60.50, and Iran was quoted at Rs 60.50, LDPE 374 ended higher by Rs 2.50 to Rs 74.
LLDPE w118 turned lower by 25 paisa to Rs 60.25 and 7087 down by 25 paisa to Rs 60.25, polypropylene film Thai conceded 50 paisa to Rs 58.75, Kuwait ended lower by 50 paisa to Rs 58.75, and India shed 50 paisa to Rs 58.75, Polypropylene tape grade. India quoted at Rs 57.75, Kuwait quoted at the same level and Saudai quoted at Rs 87.85, Polypropylene injection grade. Saudia closed lower by 75 paisa to Rs 58.75 while India moved downward by 75 paisa to Rs 58.75.
On Thursday prices shot up on the grain market as many retailers were trying to hoard the commodities due to continued surge in prices.
On the grams side, gram garda Punjab both types gained Rs 200 to Rs 3600-3800, gram garda dal Punjab inferior type was up by Rs 100 to Rs 4100 while the best quality was unmoved at Rs 4200. Beetle Chana No 1 rose by Rs 200 to Rs 3800-4000, beetle 50x50 also gained Rs 225 to Rs 3700-3900, dal beetle was up by Rs 100 to Rs 4300-4500, they said.
On the rice side, Irri-9 Punjab was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 3900-4000. Basmati/D-98 Shahdadkot low type rose by Rs 800 to Rs 4800 and better quality was up by Rs 100 to Rs 4900, same rise was seen in the prices of Basmati Bagr Jee at the equal rates
Not a single deal reported on Friday as many dealers were busy in Juma prayers not taking part in normal trading. Declining trend was seen on the grain market on Saturday as buyers were anticipating that the prices will come down in days to come.
A few changes were seen on the cereal side, masoor lost Rs 100 to Rs 3400, masoor Canada shed Rs 15 to Rs 6200 and dal masoor also followed the same trend and drifted lower by Rs 100 to Rs 7300-7400. Wheat old and new both qualities rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1710-1725 amid tight supplies.
