US Gulf CIF soyabean and corn barge basis values held mostly steady Monday with exporters seeking rail supplies due to high water causing problems moving barges at export elevators in New Orleans, traders said. Wheat values were mostly unchanged with little export demand ahead of the harvest of a new crop in about six weeks, traders said.
Kazakhstan was considering halting grain exports to limit rising domestic food prices. A ban on exports was expected to have little impact on the world wheat market due to the United States about to harvest a new crop, traders said.
High water continued to make moving barges hazardous at the Gulf, with movement restricted to daylight hours. Vessels loadings were running behind schedule at many elevators, traders said.
