Sixty-two out of total 65 members of the Balochistan Assembly took oath on Monday. Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar administered the oath to the newly-elected members. The members took oath in three languages - Urdu, Pashto and Balochi. Six MPAs of Balochistan National Party (Awami) took oath in Balochi while three Awami National Party members took oath in Pashto language.
A total of 53 members who belong to Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and others were administered oaths in Urdu. Independent member Jan Ali Changezi demanded that he should be administered oath in Darri language but his demand was not accepted. He later took oath in Urdu.
The JUI(F) members staged walk out in protest against oath in regional languages. They said Urdu is national language and members of the house should have been administered oath in Urdu.
The house offered Fateha for PPP leader Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Nawab Mohammad Akbar Bugti, Balach Marri and Residential College Loralai Principal Professor Mohammad Ali Kakar. The speaker adjourned the house till Tuesday.
