Pakistan Muslim League-N on Tuesday nominated Sardar Dost Mohammad Khosa, Rana Iqbal Khan and Rana Mushhood as party candidates for the slots of Chief Minister, Speaker and Deputy Speaker, respectively.
The PML-N President and parliamentary leader of the party in the Punjab Assembly Mian Shahbaz Sharif told reporters after a meeting of the parliamentary party at a local hotel on Tuesday night that the PML-N Quaid had accorded approval of these nominations while the coalition partners ie PPP, PML-F and MMA also endorsed the decision.
He said the new cabinet would be comprised of 35 ministers and their names would be announced soon. Shahbaz Sharif said that the new Chief Minister would take oath on April 12 and he would be fully empowered. He strongly condemned the attitude meted out to former federal minister Sardar Sher Afgan Khan Niazi in Lahore and said lawyers who waged heroic struggle cannot be involved in this incident.
'This deplorable incident appears to be a conspiracy against newly born baby of democracy but the PML-N would foil all such conspiracies,' he said. He added that days of dictatorship are numbered and soon there will be rule of law and supremacy of constitution. He said conspiracies from Aiwan-e-Sadr would put to an end soon and democracy would flourish in the country.
Answering a question, he said the PML-N new Chief Minister would announce 70 percent cut in the expenditures of Chief Minister's House which is presently of Rs 350 million. He said there would be only two vehicles at the disposal of Chief Minister.
The remaining 148 vehicles would be sent to transport pool for auction along with other vehicles. He also announced to convert the Chief Minister's House at GoR into a university. To a question, Shahbaz said that the PML-N did not believe in victimisation but all those who committed wrong doings would have to face the law.
He said official resources were badly misused during the previous tenure. He further said that coalition partners are committed to Murree declaration and Charter of Democracy (CoD) and commitments made with the public through these documents would be fulfilled.
