The new government has decided to constitute a tripartite commission, comprising government representatives, newspapers owners and journalist unions to find out amicable ways to implement the long -disputed Wage Board Award, official sources told Business Recorder.
The sources said that the minister for information and broadcasting has briefed the first Cabinet meeting on March 31 that the information ministry was considering implementing the Wage Board Award.
Sources said the Cabinet observed that the restoration of judges of the apex courts was a burning issue, which requires immediate attention in the light of the recommendations of the Bhurban Declaration. To this effect, it was suggested that a committee be constituted under the chairmanship of the federal law minister and its members be nominated in consultation with other coalition partners of the government, the sources said, adding that the members of the committee are yet to be finalised.
The Cabinet had decided that the committee would prepare its recommendations and suggest ways and means for the restoration of the judges. The prime minister said the government should not lose sight of the overwhelming and clear mandate bestowed upon it by the people, adding that the people have high expectations from the government and measures should be taken to meet their hopes and aspirations.
He said that the challenges confronting the government were enormous which demand untiring, relentless and focused efforts. The major challenges are supremacy of the Parliament, independence of the Judiciary, maintenance of law and order, strengthening of institutions, economic problems, price-hike, unemployment, and shortage of commodities.
He assured the Cabinet that on important issues consensus policies would be evolved and the Parliament would be taken into confidence for their successful implementation. He reiterated unflinching support of his government to the implementation of Charter of Democracy (CoD) and Bhurban Declaration, the sources added.
