The Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron), Najmuddin Khan on Wednesday sought help of the international community for the early and safe repatriation of Afghan refugees.
In an interview with APP, he said that there are 2.1 million Afghan refugees presently residing in Pakistan and the Pakistan government has signed an agreement with the UNHCR and Afghan refugees for their phase-wise repatriation to their country. He hoped the repatriation process would be completed by end of 2009. Khan said that the refugees are have burdened the national economy sought urgent help from the international community for their early and safe repatriation.
Further, he said Pakistan People's Party has come into power with people's mandate and all decisions would be made according to people's aspirations and mass welfare.
