The coalition government of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) is committed to overcome the price hike and lawlessness prevalent in the country, said the PML-N nominated Punjab Chief Minister, Dost Muhammad Khosa and the PPP parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly, Raja Riaz Ahmad.
They were addressing a joint press conference after the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker on Friday. "The top priority of the coalition government is to provide relief and maintain peaceful atmosphere in the province," they stressed.
They also said that both major parties of the country have finalised a power sharing formula to form government in Punjab and out of 35 provincial ministers, 22 will be from the PML-N and 13 from the PPP. Both of the leaders said that the country is facing huge challenges like spiralling inflation, terrorism, unemployment, poverty and lawlessness.
However, reconciliation will be promoted in the society to meet those, "We want to promote positive politics and do not believe in the politics of revenge", they said. Further, the PML-N and PPP representatives criticised the PML-Q for boycotting the election of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker. Responding to a question, they termed the violent manhandling incidents of Dr Arbab Rahim and Dr Sher Afghan as a "conspiracy" designed by anti-democratic forces aiming to derail the transition process in the country.
