Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said his government will take the private sector on board on policy issues to provide it an enabling environment to act as an engine of Pakistan's economic growth.
He told a SAARC delegation comprising its president Tariq Sayeed, vice president and FPCCI president Tanvir Ahmed Shaikh that the new government will give representation to the private sector in decision-making to make it feel that it was being given due importance and their input was being incorporated in budget and other important key issues.
The Prime Minister added that he would personally have interaction with the trade bodies representatives to take feed back on the government decisions. He said the government would ensure that the private sector gets workable response from all the government departments.
He offered his government's full support to make SAARC a vibrant body to work for promotion of trade and investment in the region. He also accepted the invitation from SAARC office-bearers to be chief guest at a seminar being organised by SAARC on 'Economic freedom'.
The seminar is being held in Lahore on April 16. All the SAARC countries have confirmed their participation in the seminar. The Prime Minister will be chief guest at the seminar to be addressed by experts on economy, trade, regional and bilateral treaties and other issues relating to international laws and practices being followed for promotion of trade and investment in different regions of the world.
SAARC seminar will be first direct address of Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani since taking over as Prime Minister. It will have also great impact on SAARC agenda and its role in promoting the cause of bringing all the members countries closer and promote regional peace.
