Federal Minister of Law, Justice and Human Rights Farooq H Naek said that final modality for restoration of deposed judges would be worked out in the meeting of heads of allied parties, Aaj TV reported.
Talking to media after meeting with NGOs delegation at Sindh Secretariat, Naek said that soon after taking oath Prime Minster Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered release of deposed judges. "A committee was also set up for their restoration", he added. The minister said that final modalities for restoration of judges would be worked out in the meeting of heads of allied parties to be held next week.
APP adds: Federal Law Minister Farooq H. Naek said on Saturday that all steps would be taken to curb violation of human rights and eliminate the gender-based discrimination. He was addressing journalists at the office of the Director of Regional Office of Human Rights Wing.
"We condemn all types of violations of rights of women, prisoners, and minorities", he said, adding the work of the Human Rights Ministry would be improved. The minister said that most of the violations of rights were committed in cases of rape. The victims suffer one ordeal after another at the hands of many people.
He said many cases such as theft are never reported nor does the police bother about them, thus rendering the victims helpless. The minister said he had some proposals for paying compensation to the victims seeking help from the NGOs. He said that the law ministry will look into the possibility of providing concession of bail to accused woman who is pregnant at the time of arrest or if she has a suckling child.
He said Benazir Bhutto had worked hard for granting women their rights. He said PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also wants to resolve the problems of the people, strengthen democracy, and establish rule of law in the country. He criticised the previous government for making "personality specific laws" just to please an individual.
