The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed of 102 cases whereas 229 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday 05 April 2008 to Friday 11 April 2008. The backlog in the Supreme Court on 04th April 2008 was 15407 cases. As 229 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday 05th April 2008 to Friday 11th April 2008.
The progressive total of pending cases as on 12th April 2008 comes to 15636 cases. Out of these, 102 cases were disposed of during the period from Saturday 05 April 2008 to Friday 11 April 2008; the backlog on 12th April 2008 remains 15534 cases.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar constituted different Benches to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog. A large number of Lawyers appeared before the Supreme Court in pursuit of different cases.-PR
