A delegation of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan, led by its Amir, Qazi Hussein Ahmed, met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif at the latter's home in Raiwind on Saturday, and discussed country's current political situation and matters pertaining to restoration of deposed judges.
Both the leaders also discussed incidents of April 9 in Karachi that claimed lives of innocent people, sources told Business Recorder. Political analysts referring to recent meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman and Saturday's Nawaz-Qazi meeting, opined if serious differences cropped between the PPPP and the PML-N, then these meetings might lead to major political developments.
However, they said it would be premature to predict. After the meeting, Qazi Hussain Ahmed told reporters that there was complete understanding between the Jama'at and the PML-N on the issue of restoration of deposed judges.
However, he said, if the judges were not restored in 30 days - as agreed between the PPPP and the PML-N through the Murree Declaration - it would be violation of the promise made with the public. Qazi rued the incidents of April 9 in Karachi, and demanded a probe to get the facts.
He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had never ever adopted political attitude. Earlier, addressing a gathering at Mansoora, Qazi deplored the incidents of April 9 in Karachi in which innocent people were set on fire. Had inquiry of May 12 incidents was conducted and those involved were awarded punishment, April 9 incidents could have been avoided, he argued.
