District Co-ordination Officer (DCO), Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retd) while presiding over the District Price Control Committee here on Saturday at his office's committee room has said that the implementation of official rates relating to essential commodities would be ensured and the profiteers and black marketers would not be allowed to fleece the people.
He asked the traders and shopkeepers to extend co-operation for keeping the prices of daily use items at stable stages so that people could be provided every possible relief in this regard. He said that the supply of Atta at sale points and fair-price shops was being ensured under the arrangements of City District Government in order to meet the needs of the people and the situation would be normalised soon after the new crop of wheat is brought in markets. He warned that stern legal action would be taken against the unscrupulous elements involved in overcharging and black marketing of Atta.
The DCO Azam Khan directed the concerned office to be more effective and organise the Friday, Sunday and Susta Bazars at their respective areas so that people could purchase the kitchen items on comparatively reduced rates. He also directed them to ensure the quality of items and weight & scales should be checked at the spot.
The DCO directed the price magistrates to gear up the campaign of price checking and profiteers, hoarders and black marketers should be taken to task without any discrimination.
During the meeting the DCO fixed the prices of essential items, such as mutton would be sold at Friday and Sunday Bazars at Rs 190 and in open market at Rs 200 per kg. Similarly beef at Rs 95 and Rs 100 per kg, wheat flour 20 kg bag at Rs 290 and Rs 300, flour loose at Rs 15 and Rs 16, vegetable ghee & oil Kashmir & Kisan at Rs 122.50 and Rs 124 to Rs 125 per kg, Data ghee at Rs 117 and Rs 118 to Rs 120 per kg, sugar white at Rs 24 and Rs 25 per kg, gram Dal at Rs 40 and 42 per kg, Moong Dal (local) at Rs 35 and Rs 37 per kg, Maash Dal (local) at Rs 60 and Rs 63 per kg, Masoor Dal (local) at Rs 70 and Rs 72 per kg, Maida & Suji at Rs 18 and Rs 20 per kg, Baisen at Rs 42 and Rs 44 per kg, red chilly (grinded) old at Rs 120 and Rs 120 to 125 per kg, rice Basmati (Super Colonel) at Rs 57 to Rs 60, rice broken at Rs 30 and Rs 32 to 34 per kg, gram white (local) at Rs 40 and Rs 42, gram black at Rs 35 and Rs 37, Roti (100 gram weight) at Rs 3, milk Rs 25 per litre, Yoghurt (Dahi) at Rs 27 per kg, dates (local) at Rs 37 and Rs 40 to 50, dates(imported) at Rs 75 and Rs 80 to 90, Samosa at Rs 6 each, Pakora at Rs 80 per kg, potatoes, tomatoes, onion and all fruits would be sold as per the list supplied by the Market Committee on daily basis. Chicken Broiler would be sold as per the rate given by the Poultry Association Faisalabad on daily basis.
The DCO warned that only the prices fixed by the District Price Control Committee should be charged from the consumers, otherwise, stern action would be taken against the violators.
