A three-member appellate tribunal, formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to consider pacer Shoaib Akhter's appeal against the penalty imposed on him on disciplinary grounds, will start hearing of the case on April 17.
Former judge of the Lahore High Court Aftab Farrukh heads the tribunal, while its other two members are Salmaan Taseer, an entrepreneur and former caretaker federal minister, and Haseeb Ahsan, a former Test cricketer.
It may be mentioned that Aftab Farrukh is an eminent and distinguished lawyer of Pakistan, who has also been an office-bearer of Pakistan Bar Council. He served as a judge of the Lahore High Court from 1978 to 1981. He gained international repute in a number of high profile legal cases and represented Pakistan in the 46th United Nations General Assembly session. He has also been a prominent sportsman of international stature in the field of cycling.
