About 76,000 bales of cotton have been prepared in Punjab under clean cotton programme. According to a report, 97 percent of cotton has been cleaned from the season 2007-08. Textile mills have purchased 63,000 bales; exporters have purchased 4000 bales while 9000 bales are still left in stock.
According to a report, during the 2007-08 season 1.7 million bales reached in the ginning factories from which about 1 million bales are cleaned for coming up to the standard. 0.7 million bales were rejected for not coming up to the required standard.
